How To Defeat Writer's Block FAST!

If you write, sooner or later writer's block will come for you. But what is it? Writer's block is the inability to produce new work or at the very least, a lack of creativity. Today, I'll be discussing a few ways that will help you beat write's block fast!

1. Write through it - I said it before and I'll say it again - as strange as it sounds, the best way to beat writer's block is to write through it. You may be wondering how you can write if you're having a meantal block, but you don't have to write on the project at hand. Try writing a short story or an article on a current event. Once those creative juices start flowing, it won't be long until you have the steam to work on your main project.

2. Use writing prompts. Writing prompts are a great way to beat writer's block. Quick writing projects can get your wheels turning and set you on the right track quick! A good writing prompt excercise may even spark an idea for your next body of work.

3. Get around other creators. It truly helps to have creative friends. Talking to like-minded perople and bouncing ideas off of each other is extreamly motivating. Even if the creatives in your life aren't writers, the creativty alone is often enough to inspire you to do your own thing. As the young people say, "Issa vibe".

4. Do something unrelated to writing. Watch a movie. Go see a play. Try a new activity. People watch. Listen to music. Complete a DIY. Getting out and experiencing something new often sparks creativity. By the time you return from your outing, you may find that you've once again discovered the will to write.

5. Skip over what has you stuck. Sometimes you might not have a full case of writer's block, you just may be stuck on a particular part of your project - I refer to this as writer's block lite. Perhaps you don't know how a certain scene works in, but you know there will be a huge fall out - skip over it (to return to later) and get right to the action or the part that you're confident with the direction. In the end, no one will know that you wrote your story out of sequence.

So there you have it, 5 things you can do today to work your way out of a slump. How do you get over writer's block?
